The Raincoast Conservation Foundation is deadest on protecting the precarious balance of the BC coast and Great Bear Rainforest. Proposals from both public and private sectors threaten that balance of these delicate ecosystems each day. For more information on how Raincoast is working to oppose these projects, click on the link to find out more.

BC Wolf Cull

Recently the BC government has extended the public consultation period for two important proposals regarding the peace region of the Great Bear Rainforest. These propsals involve trophy hunting of wolves and grizzlies; unlimited killing of wolves, and killing 3x the average number of grizzly bears.  Raincoast argues that the kill is "unethical" and "not based on science".

Kinder Morgan Project

The proposed Kinder Morgan Project could possibly be destructive to the BC coast. A potential oil spill in these fragile ecosystems would be detrimental to them and to keystone species, such as salmon. The Kinder Morgan pipeline would increase habitat fragmentation, taker vists by 574% and increase oil traffic (to Vancouver) to 890,000 barrels a day. All this would increase the possibility of a spill, and therefore of ecosystems destruction.
